Meeting

Thanks to all that showed up on the meeting last night. It seems that the interest to the group is pretty high and we will try to keep the ball rolling. Our next meeting will be in January 7th 2008.

Meeting Monday Dec 10th

The topic of the meeting will be "Open Source management tools for your network". The speaker will be Radi Tzvetkov from Prenova Corp. The meeting will start at 19:00h and prior to it there will be a discussion on various hot topics.

Security Testing Framework

Looking for a methodologies on security testing i found a very interesting paper called "Open Source Security Testing Methodology Manual (OSSTMM)" The current version is 2.1 but version 3 is expected soon . Here is the official web site of the people making it - http://www.isecom.org/. They provide training and i guess that is not very bad idea. Most of the companies out there hire external security audits every now and then, well here is a framework that will help you keep this internal. And of-course if you are lazy like me here is the wikipedia.org article about the framework.

First Meeting

As i have posted the meetings are going to be once a month, every second Monday. Due to some difficulties the first meeting is scheduled for December 10th. We still have no place to meet or invited speaker so if you have any particular subject that is in your interest area please post a comment.

Apparently they have quite amazing articles in the IP corner of their site, so make sure to check them also. The one that got my attention - "Changing the Routing Protocol in Your Network"

Meeting location

Currently we are looking for a place where we can make our meetings.
Also what will be a good time to meet? MY idea is every second Monday or Tuesday of the month for about one hour plus 30 minutes for Q+A session.

Cisco Atlanta Group

I am trying to start this blog in an effort to create a group similar to Atlanta Unix Users Group (auug.org), where networking professionals will be able to meet on a monthly basis to share information, experience and network in general.
